You probably have questions. Hopefully this will answer some of them!
If not, jot ‘em down and we’ll cover them later.
Why do you use WordPress to build websites? Because technology shouldn’t be a struggle for small businesses, that’s why! I use WordPress to power each website I build because it is a open source platform that is easily customised and easily edited by you. It functions across all platforms (desktops, laptops, tablets & mobile devices) and has great SEO functions built right in. Plus, there are these great apps called plugins that can make your website do wonderful things, like submit forms straight to your email. Why should I choose a WordPress powered site? For all of the reasons above, plus changing simple content will be easy for you to do. It can be used in any internet browse, and your site can be accessed from any computer. Along with that, the open source nature will allow WordPress (and your website!) continue to grow as the web (and your business) matures. The 25 million sites currently running on WordPress are a testament to its power. How do I tell if you’re the right designer for me? We love your portfolio and everything looks great! What makes you different? I care about your business. I want to get to know you and your goals and your dreams and build a website or brand your new business, a website that will bring clients and customers to you and help grow your business. I think I can do this myself. Why should I hire you? Sure, you probably could. And if you have a small budget, perhaps you should do it yourself. I’m happy to give you recommendations, so just ask! But remember this: your clients are picky. If your website looks like it was designed by you from a template, chances are your credibility is not what it could be with a professionally designed site. Who do you work best with? Businesses that have a little bit of a vision of where they are going. If you have a fully formed business plan and know your target audience, we’re ready to get working! Contact me to get started. Who is not going to benefit from your services? If you think Vistaprint has the design you’re looking for, please just go to the site and purchase it. If you already have a design in mind that you’ve seen somewhere else, please use that design. People who have seen work that they would just like me to replicate are people who will not benefit from hiring me. Also, if you are just thinking about building a business, you have a lot of work to do before you meet with me. Pick up a few books and do your research first. Your business must already be viable and have potential before we put it on the web. The web validates your business and welcomes people in, but it cannot make an unsustainable business grow. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. What’s next? Contact me for a quote and to find out what my schedule looks like. Can we contact people you’ve worked with in the past? Sure thing! Send me an email, and I’ll send you a list of references who would be happy to talk with you.» Why
WordPress?
» Why me?
Do you like this site? Do you like what you see in my portfolio? Do you like how I come across on my about page? If you answered yes to any of the above, I might be the right designer for you. If you don’t like what you see in my portfolio, please keep looking. I am not the designer for you. There is someone out there who has the same style you do… You just have to find them!» Are we right
for each other?
» What I do.
What I don’t.
What kind of design do you do? I can and will design most anything you ask for: websites (WordPress powered only!), logos, brochures, postcards, invitations, banners, t-shirts, product labels, magazines…
What don’t you do? I don’t build websites that are NOT powered on WordPress. I don’t copy other’s designs. I also don’t do photography or custom illustration. I feel those jobs are best left to the professional photographers & illustrators.
» About Ruby.
How long have you been in business? I’ve been freelancing since 2008, helping local and national businesses and companies brand and market themselves. Ruby Red, however, has just turned one! Happy, happy to her and to me…
Where are you located? I live in this fantastic little town called Carrboro (also known as the Paris of the Piedmont) in the center of North Carolina, three hours from the beach and three hours from the mountains. It’s tiny, but it has four taco trucks and two burger trucks, plus it’s own music festival and a separate film festival. But I work with people in DC and Arizona and in-between, so it matters not if you’re not close.
Will we meet in person? If you’re located in the Triangle area of North Carolina, yes. I really like meeting my clients in person so that we can get a good feeling for each other. I do think first impressions are important. If you’re not in the area, we will chat by phone to get to know each other and develop the project.
» Projects &
Prep
What should I do to prepare? First, fill out the questionnaire. Second, be prepared to talk about your business as well as your likes and dislikes. Third, read the FAQs! There is a whole lot of information here. It’s also helpful if you have questions for me. The consultation is all about getting to know each other and exploring the scope of the project. The more I know, the more accurate my proposal will be, and the better we will be able to work together.
How quickly can you build a website? That depends on my schedule! If I am free when you contact me and all of your ducks are in a row, we can get something solid up in around a month. This depends on the scope of the project, of course. Larger projects with unique goals will take longer.
Do you take care of printing? I can and I will, for an additional fee.
What does your pricing structure look like? Because every business has different goals and different needs, its impossible to put a pricing structure on my site. If you would like a quote, please fill out the form here and I’ll get back to you with generalities asap!
Everything sounds wonderful, but it seems so expensive. How can we afford it? In general, half of your project balance will be due at the beginning of the project and the second half will be billed when the project is finished. If this does not work for you, we can work out monthly payments to keep you within your budget.
What types of payment do you accept? I invoice through email and accept payment via check, credit card (surcharges may apply) and PayPal.
